Forfatteren skriver i bogen, at sådan som verdenen var (og er) havde hun lyst til at skrive en let og romantisk historie, som man kunne glemme lidt af det trælse i, mens man læser. Og det er præcis, hvad man får. Ingen store konflikter, men masser af romantik

Det er en bog om død, følelser, acceptere hinandens forskelligheder og om kærlighed

De to hovedpersoner er et underholdende bekendtskab, og krimidelen er også ok for mig. Jeg er ikke den store krimifan, så for mig var det meget passende, men krimifan vil nok syntes der var for lidt.

Rob og Maegan siger ikke hinanden noget, men da de nødtvungent skal arbejde sammen om en skoleopgave, dukker der langsomt en form for gensidig forståelse op. Deres spirende venskab bliver udfordret igen og igen, men efterhånden finder de både sig selv og hinanden

Den er rigtig velskrevet og rigtig god og vedkommende ungdomsroman med drive fra allerførste side. Man bliver suget ind med det sammen. Synsvinklen ligger skiftevis hos Rob og Maegan, hvorved man får et meget nuanceret billede af personer og relationer.

Nedenstående er skrevet til et bogkapitel om grønlandsk LGBTQ+ litteratur:

...a book about friendship and love, but mostly it is a book about suicide. In interviews[1] the author talks about a suicide culture in Greenland that aren’t being talked about. She hopes that her book can help start conversations about a topic that needs to be talked about, so something can be done.

Blomsterdalen is about a young lesbian girl. She is moving to Denmark to study. In the plane travelling to Denmark she gets to talking with the woman sitting next to her. To the woman she says about herself: My family is afraid I will get lost. I do that often [my translation] (Korneliussen 2020, 31). It sums her and the book up pretty good. It is about a girl who were lost, was found, but continue to get lost again and again in her actions, her memories and her thoughts. She gets more and more lost until she loses herself completely and commits suicide in the end. She has a girlfriend and is accepted by her family. But she feels wrong, like she doesn’t fit in. Not because she is gay, but because of how she looks, acts, are and so on. She is a girl with a very low self-esteem and a drive to self-sabotage. It is like she is lost even before the book starts.

Den er virkelig velskreven. Man bliver suget ud ind i historien og hovedpersonens skæbne, som allerede fra starten trækken mod tragedien. Man fornemmer fra starten, at dette ikke er en bog med en nem eller lykkelig slutning.

Det er en ok velskrevet bog. Deres baghistorie og de traumer/ar de hver især bærer på er godt beskrevet, men jeg syntes at den lykkelige slutning kommer lidt for hurtigt og let.
