De to hovedpersoner er et underholdende bekendtskab, og krimidelen er også ok for mig. Jeg er ikke den store krimifan, så for mig var det meget passende, men krimifan vil nok syntes der var for lidt.

Jeg ved ikke helt, hvad det var der manglede for mig i denne bog, men jeg blev ikke rigtig fastholdt eller underholdt så meget i forhold til forfatterens andre bøger. Jeg havde svært ved at blive fanget ind af den.

En antologi af jule noveller. De er af svingende kvalitet eller det er i hvert fald ikke dem alle der er min smag. Når jeg skal læse jule noveller, tænker jeg noget rart og sødt. Noget man kommer i julehumør af. Der var nogle stykker som ærlig talt bare føltes som undskyldning for skrive noget der nærmest er porno. Ikke meget jul over dem. Heldigvis var der en del af de andre noveller der leverede det forventede. Så i alt er det en god jule antologi.

Jonas flytter til Taastrup med sin mor og stedfar, men fortiden flytter med og

Jonas er god til at slås. Det har han lært af sin far, som døde da Jonas var 12 år. Efter en voldsdom flytter han vestpå for at starte på et nyt liv i Taastrup. Han begynder i gymnasiet, finder nye venner med fast tilholdssted i en bodega på hovedgaden, men det er lettere at tjene penge på Bare Knuckle Fight - ulovlig kampsport - end i Føtex. Han bliver ret hurtigt kærester med Sonja. Hun bor i nabolaget og er sød og sexet, men kan ikke acceptere Jonas' dobbeltliv.

Det er en barsk historie om en forsømt dreng, der prøver at finde en udvej - og afstiver sig med citater fra sange af Allan Olsen og Lyle Lovett. Inddelt i korte kapitler og skrevet i et billedskabende sprog med mange referencer til børnebøger og film. Vold, kærlighed og sex bliver skildret uden filter.

Jeg læste den som forberedelse til booktalks for 9. klasser.

Mille 17 år, er i lære som maler, har fem halvsøskende og bor i en ungdomsbolig, fordi der ikke er plads til hende hos hverken mor eller far. Hun har aldrig nogen penge, så da hendes cykel bliver stjålet og hun ikke har råd til en ny, overtaler Natasja fra værelse 8 hende til at forsøge sig med sugardating. Mille vil egentlig ikke, men hun har virkelig brug for den cykel, for at kunne møde på arbejde kl. 7 og bevare sin læreplads. En troværdig fortalt historie om et presset ungeliv, hvor pengene er små og baglandet ikke er i stand til at hjælpe og hvor gråzone-prostitution bliver en desperat mulighed. Man føler med Mille, og forstår de valg hun træffer.

Nedenstående er skrevet til et bogkapitel om grønlandsk LGBTQ+ litteratur:

...a book about friendship and love, but mostly it is a book about suicide. In interviews[1] the author talks about a suicide culture in Greenland that aren’t being talked about. She hopes that her book can help start conversations about a topic that needs to be talked about, so something can be done.

Blomsterdalen is about a young lesbian girl. She is moving to Denmark to study. In the plane travelling to Denmark she gets to talking with the woman sitting next to her. To the woman she says about herself: My family is afraid I will get lost. I do that often [my translation] (Korneliussen 2020, 31). It sums her and the book up pretty good. It is about a girl who were lost, was found, but continue to get lost again and again in her actions, her memories and her thoughts. She gets more and more lost until she loses herself completely and commits suicide in the end. She has a girlfriend and is accepted by her family. But she feels wrong, like she doesn’t fit in. Not because she is gay, but because of how she looks, acts, are and so on. She is a girl with a very low self-esteem and a drive to self-sabotage. It is like she is lost even before the book starts.

Den er virkelig velskreven. Man bliver suget ud ind i historien og hovedpersonens skæbne, som allerede fra starten trækken mod tragedien. Man fornemmer fra starten, at dette ikke er en bog med en nem eller lykkelig slutning.
